Kelly Fairey travelled across the seas to Guernsey to play in the Guernsey Masters tournament in April 2022.
In the O40 WD playing with Betty Blair (Devon) they won their group including beating the No 2 seeds in a good 3 set match. In the final they played the No 1 seeds Rebecca Pantaney (Gloucestershire) & Lynne Swan (Essex) and against an excellent and very strong pair lost a good final to be tournament runners-up.
In the O40 XD playing with Justin Andrews (Gloucestershire) they won their group and played Simon Gilhooly (Essex) & Sara Foster (Sussex) in the semi-final beating them in a close match before playing Alex Marritt (Yorkshire) & Rebecca Pantaney (Gloucestershire) in the final where they lost in 2 ends with a very tight second set 22-24
Launa Eyles & Gene Joyner (Avon) took part in the All-England Senior Championship 2022 at Hatfield.
The All-England is one of the prestigious tournaments in the World and players from many countries take part.
In their group they beat all of their opponents in 2 ends. Then being No 1 seeds they had a bye missing the semi-finals and were straight through to the final. Here they played an international pair Kieron McMahon (Ireland) & Maureen Oskam (Netherlands). Launa & Gene took control of the match early on and overpowered the international pair to win 10 & 7 and become All-England Champions. WOW!
Launa played with Kerry Mullen in the O60 WD. In their group they beat, among others, the No 2 seeds in a tight 3 set match winning the 3rd end to 16.
This qualified them through to the final where they played the No 1 seeds – the quality pair of Chris Crossley (a multiple times world Champion from Surrey) & Linda Wood (Yorkshire). In a close match the pair from Yorkshire & Surrey won 17 & 17. Launa & Kerry finished as runners-up. Congratulations
Kelly Fairey played in the O35 WD with Nicola Wall (Avon). In a high-class box they finished as runners-up to a strong pair from Denmark Helle Bøgeholdt Kæmpegaard and Gry Uhrenholt

At the Yorkshire Masters at the Railway Institute in York, Launa Eyles & Gene Joyner (Avon) played in the O60’s XD. In their group they had some tight matches however they came through to win and qualify for the semi-finals. Playing Kevin Maughan (Hertfordshire) & Linda Riley (Hertfordshire) they won a tricky match 12 & 15. Having reached the finals the pair played an established pair from Scotland Ross Gladwin & Jill Greig. Again, Launa & Gene had to work out how to play & win, which they did 16 & 16 to become Yorkshire Masters Champions. An excellent result!
Kelly Fairey played in the O40 XD with Justin Andrews (Gloucestershire) they were in a very strong round-robin tournament. After 4 very close matches Kelly & Justin finished as winners. Congratulations.
Kelly also played with Natalie Taylor (Cambridgeshire) in the O40 WD and in a strong round-robin competition finished as runners-up to Sarah Burgess (Hampshire) & Joanna Dix (Hampshire)
Debbie Honey played in the Over 65 WS in a group of 5.
She won all of her matches except to the eventual winner, Sylvia Penn (Surrey), to whom she lost 17 & 15.
Debbie finished as runner-up – well done, Debbie.
Debbie also played in the O65 XD with her husband, John, and they finished as 3rd in their group to the No 1 seeds who eventually won the Tournament
Kerry Mullen travelled to Glasgow to play in the Scottish International Masters Tournament in March 2021.
Playing with Sue Tooke (Hampshire) they won their O60 WD group comfortable. In the final they played Jane Grant & Freda Masson from Scotland who they beat convincingly. Congratulations on being Scottish Champions.

Kelly was partnered by Justin Andrews (Gloucestershire) in the O40XD. They had a tough box which included the No 1 seeds, however, when they played the seeds in a tough 3 set match Kelly & Justin won to progress through to the final. Here they played Paul Mayfield (Lincolnshire) & Mhairi Armstrong (Bedfordshire) which they lost in the 3rd end 21-19 to be Scottish runners-up. An excellent weekend.
